4-5 apples (peeled and cored)
1-2oz sugar
1-2oz chopped dates
2oz of short-crust pastry per apple
divide the pastry equally per apple. work the pastry round the apple. Fill the hole with sugar and dates.
Join the edges of the pastry – there must be no cracks.
Place on a tray in a hot oven and cook till the fruit is cooked.
Good with custard
